Important terminology or abbreviations

Fr - freestyle

Bk - Backstroke

Br - Breastroke

Fly - Butterfly

IM - Individual medley (fly-bk-br-fr)

Reverse IM - fr-br-bk-fly

Desc - Descend (each one gets faster) Ex: 4x100 desc means that each 100m gets faster, the 4th being the fastest

Build - build within the distance Ex: 4x100 build means that within each 100m you get faster

AO! - All out! Maximum effort

Fast! - High effort, but can go again

EZ - Easy / recovery swimming

SC - Stroke count - count your strokes and keep it as low as you can

Golf - stroke count + time (try to keep it low)

Negative split - the second half of the swim should be faster than the first half

↓H2O - underwater (usually dolphin kick)

Flip turn - the flip used for freestyle or backstroke

Open turn - the turn used for breastroke or butterfly

PB or BT - personal best or best time

Streamline - Underwater body position after diving or pushing off the wall
